01The beginning
SMJ, a music director, singer-songwriter, and producer hailing from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, discovered music at age 3 behind a drum set, and was already playing keys by age 5. Bringing world-class music pieces together with a distinctly African sound.
02The craft
With over 15 years of experience, widely studied and Berklee University certified, he has shaped the sound of Nigerian worship and Afro-contemporary music. He served with Dr. Tim Godfrey’s The Xtreme Crew and spent 3 years as Music Director for The Logic Church Mainland & Island choirs (LSM & LSI). Today, SMJ is focused on his own sound, music that carries the Gospel with excellence and cultural depth.
03The work
On stage & in the studio
His craft has led to collaborations and live sessions with international voices like Travis Greene, Micah Stampley, Kirk Franklin, and Israel Houghton. He’s the composer of the hit single “The Name Jesus” and the producer behind anthems like Nara, Onaga, Na You Be God, So Good, and many more.

04The Outsider
SMJ is also the convener of “The Outsider” concert in Lagos, a night of worship that has hosted Dr. Tim Godfrey, Pastor Noble G, Stevehills, Kennyblaq, EmmaOMG, and more.
